Team Baghdad win propels team member to award
Team Baghdad member Johan Barne has been awarded Sweden Sailing Federation’s finest award “Sailor of the Year”. According to the press release:
The award “Sailor of the Year” was awarded to Johan Barne who recieve the award for a record 5th time. He has previously been awarded the award 1992, 1995, 1999 och 2011. Johan have had a fantastic 2015 och won three World Championship medals in three completely different classes which is an amazing performance. The crew Johan sails with in the 5.5 (that’s Team Baghdad!) was totally undefeated throughout the whole World Championship which is an historic feat and never previously done in the class. Onboard the TP52 Platoon, Johan sails as navigator and responsible for the performance analysis and they won Silver at the Worlds. He also finished third at the Maxi Worlds in the Maxi Wally class with the 77-footer J-One.
– It feels great and tribute to everyone I’ve sailed with, not only this year but also throughout my sailing career, concludes Johan Barne.
